Project #2: Photoshop or InDesign – Using either of the two programs you will design a logo of your first and last name.
VanCoevering, K. L. (Artist). (2016). Logo Design. [2D Design]. Allendale, Michigan; Private Collection .
For my logo design, I decided to keep it simple and bold by using my initials as the main attraction, along with my full name following the letters accordingly in a smaller font. I believe that simplicity goes very far nowadays, because the attention span in today’s age has become increasing lower. Also, clutter drives people away due to it being time consuming, you want people to be able to remember your logo. I stuck with bold colors by using the two most opposite colors, black and white. This was so that the logo could be easily read, and noticeable.
Project #3 – Digital Photo and Manipulation: Take a photo in front of four major statues/icons at GVSU. Be sure to write down the location and the statue name for your blog. Have a passerby to take your photo to insure you get the entire statue/icon

This is a significant statue because this what marks our university, and has become one main attraction and focal points of our school. This was built by main contributors that donated money to help support GVSU. We allow tours inside the tower as way to exposure the tower in a positive light.

This is a main icon on GVSU’s campus, because it is in a popular area that is visited or has been visited by all GVSU students. It grabs a lot of attention due to its bright colors that brightens everyones day by lightening up the environment.

VanCoevering, K. L. (Artist). (2016). Altered White Statue Picture. [2D Design]. Allendale, Michigan; Private Collection.
This is a well known statue that we have on campus, it is located in the center between all of the lake buildings on campus. It is pure white and surpasses in length compared to many of the art work/statues on campus, and always catches your eye even from afar.
Holton, Wesley, M. Original Bench Picture. 2016. [Photograph]. Private Collection, Allendale.
VanCoevering, Kaitlyn L. Altered Bench Picture. 2016. [2D Design]. Private Collection, Allendale.
This is a main attraction on side pathway on GVSU’s campus, this is a intimate setting where many students sit on and around the bench. This is hot spot because it is near one of the two fountains we have, and the largest body of water we have.
Project #4 – Internet Culture/Memes: Somewhere on campus, indoor or out, have someone take a photo of YOU doing each one of these classic Internet memes.
VanCoevering, Kaitlyn L. Bad Luck Brian Meme. 2016. [Template]. Meme Generator , Allendale.
VanCoevering, Kaitlyn L. Haters Gunna Hate Meme. 2016. [Template]. Meme Generator , Allendale.
VanCoevering, Kaitlyn L. First World Meme. 2016. [Template]. Meme Generator , Allendale.
Overall my memes revolved around school topics, I really wanted to keep it relevant to my future audiences. I thought incorporating school jokes would give it that light rumor side that all of the memes have, as well as keep the themes of the original memes. For instance, the ‘Haters Gunna Hate’ meme refers to students who use the elevators in the Pew Library. People tend to scold when you’re on the second floor and use the elevator to go to the first floor, but I like many others still do it out of laziness.
Project #5 – Video: Go to your favorite spot on GVSU’s campus. Using Final Cut Pro create a 1 minute video of your favorite spots. Upload to Twitter, tag @angelapeavy, and use hashtag #CAP105Final.

My video was something that was able to really enjoy, because this was showing my favorite places to go to on GVSU’s campus, as well as showing what I like to do while I am there. The Arboretum Park is somewhere I generally spend all of my free time on campus, this is where I get to relax and reflect without any distractions, like the internet. The second area is the steps in front of the James H. Zumberge Hall, which always a good choice when the weather is nice, and you have extra homework to do.
Project #6 – Photoshop: Identify and get a photo in front of your favorite outdoor art sculpture at either one of GVSU’s Campus’s. In Photoshop, add or remove 1 element and apply 1 filter.

VanCoevering, K. L. (Artist). (2016). Altered Blue Arc Picture. [2D Design]. Allendale, Michigan; Private Collection .
This arc really speaks to me, because the superstation carried with me to this very day, since the day it was told to me when I first toured GVSU’s campus over two years ago. This idea that you can only walk through it from the broken end to the front, because it signifies your education here. You first walk in lost and not complete, then you leave being complete and whole with your education. It is said that if you walk in it the opposite way, the consequences can very to your grades. It acts as motivation to me.
Project #7 – InDesign: Using InDesign you will create a Twitter Cover Photo 1500px by 500px. Post your final product to your Twitter account

My experience on my final exam was successful, and honestly I surprised myself throughout this whole progress. Before this class I was not familiar with the platforms that we were using in Adobe, I was taught how to adapt and explore the realistic technology that my field of study uses every day. I found this exam useful, because it showed the progress I made from the first. Although, the final exam’s sections were not as extensive as the individual projects, I was able to work through each step smoothly without any complications. Which is a huge improvement from the beginning.
Project #8 GVSU culture: Take a picture next to the “wrecking ball” on GVSU’s campus. Proceed to go to Google AdWords and find 5 alternate keywords that people would use to research GVSU’s Wrecking Ball, with Global Monthly search results. Write 5 sentences/or paragraph to incorporate the alternate keywords.

- While checking out the various art shows that Grand Rapids has to show, come check out the wrecking ball statue on Grand Valley State Universities Allendale Campus.
- Grand Valley State University carries a variety of abstract art that i shown all around their campus, for instance the ‘wrecking ball.’
- The wrecking ball statue held on Grand Valley State Universities Campus is a collection of contemporary art that is shown all around campus.
- Check out the art collection that Grand Valley State University has on their art website, which can show you the individual art sculptures around campus, like the wrecking ball.
- You could see many of the art collections, including the wrecking ball from Grand Valley State Universities campus, in a Museum of Modern Art if moved forward from the campus.
The wrecking ball symbolizes a modern take that Grand Valley State University has now taken on. Our buildings today have recently gone under a ton construction to modernize the architecture, as well as being more green and conservative. The wrecking ball parallels the concept of a pendulum, which defines the law of gravity. That was a major discovery as well as a breakthrough, which paved the way for the future of science today. I think this symbolized the message that Grand Valley State University was trying to convey when they decided to start to renovate their beautifully built campus. They wanted to set themselves apart from other major universities, and the wrecking ball acted as a marker for the new beginning for their campus.
To obtain more SEO to my post, I used Google AdWords. This is a way to potentially raise your status in the google world, these keywords give you the ability to try to manipulate your page to someone’s search results. This is always important to keep in mind, because if you want to monopolize on your brand, you must be search friendly. To allow the most availability for users to be exposed to your website or page, you must make sure that you are using the most popular words your audience is using. By using AdWords, they give you the words that are being used most frequently in your category, so then you can manipulate your description and embedded link text to correlate to the words that they show will give you the most success with what you are trying to convey.
Overall, being able to work on SEO with this specific topic should help draw more attention first to the wrecking ball, and secondly to GVSU in regards to the ‘wrecking ball project.’ However, this tool is very versatile with its uses. Not using Google friendly words could really make or break the analytics of your page or website, using this tool is worth it for the positive outcome.
