Step 1: Learn about what Google Analytics is 

Learn the basic fundamentals of Google Analytics hereThis information will help you get qualified to effectively use Google Analytics to the fullest potential, and this allows you to get more involved with the  various functions that Google provides. 

Step 2: Take the ‘Digital Analytics Fundamentals‘ test

This is located on the previous page that was indicated in step 1, it should contain 20 questions to asses your knowledge.

Step 3: Complete the test, and post your score.

Step 4: Evaluation

After finally passing this test, I was able to get certified to allow me to fully use the various functions that Google has to offer. This gave me the basic fundamentals , which can become applicable to my daily life. I knew that this was going to open up new opportunities for  me when I am trying to move forward with my career, and while  I am promoting myself as an up and coming business person. This goes hand in hand with the ‘Brand Yourself‘ and about the Google Ad word posts that I previously made,  and this helps bring relevance to this project as well. 

The most interesting thing that I found was that although I knew that there was responsibilities that came with having an account, but the diverse amount of activities that you can participate with is pretty incredible. I think that the most interesting section that I saw during this tutorial was about the extensive techniques that are used to make your journey more of a success. I know that I still have a lot of room for improvement and learning, and I think that searching around and learning the new technology will be half the fun of getting to know more about Analytics and what Google has to offer as a promotional tool for yourself. 


 

-[Social Media Management]-

Step 1: Use a social media management tool to incorporate to your own Twitter account

Personally, I used TweetDeck. However, you can use ones such as Hootsuite

Step 2: Schedule at least five updates on Twitter

For this project specifically, you were required to include #CAP105GVSU with each one.

Step 3: Evaluate

I was excited to get involved with this project, because it was so relevant and related to my life today. Not necessarily directly towards me, but more so indirectly towards the people that I follow. I personally follow many celebrities, from actors, to singers, to musicians, etc. and I do appreciate them keeping me updated on what is going on. For instance, being able to keep up on  upcoming events, breaking news, and new songs is why I follow anyone on any platform, not just twitter. We know that celebrities get busy, so I could imagine why they or their PR team would use this technique to keep their followers interested and aware of them.

However, for me personally I would not use this as much, this is due to the fact that I really don’t have any obligations to anyone to keep them updated. The concept of twitter is selfish in the way that we tweet, we tweet only when we want, and what about. On the other hand, there are people that rely heavily on the idea that this is a platform to satisfy and fulfill other people’s lives that they tweet to to keep us happy, so this is a method to accomplish this for them. I think that for the right audience, this is a tool that if use right can be dangerous and be monopolized into a greater purpose.

Step 1: Set up an account on BrandYourself.com

Type in your name when you are choosing the identity that you are trying manipulated and search for results on. 

Step 3: Take a screenshot of the first initial score of your branding

For some reason is was unable to give me a score because it was unknown, but it had all of my content.

Step 3: Go through the process of manipulating the results when searching your name

You can decide to whether or not a website associated with your name is positive, negative, or not you at all. This allows you to bury and boost your sites according to the ranking that it shows on google. 

Step 4: Evaluation 

For me I think this was the most interesting and relatable project to me. We all at one point have searched our name, and I remember before this class I was somewhat displeased with what was initially showing up when you would type in my name. The links that were popping up were not necessarily anything worrisome, however, I would have rather had things dominate the higher rankings. I was always curious about how to get certain thing off or at least in a sense buried. So it was exciting to see something relatable and relevant could be taught later in my class. 

This concept really makes you think about what you decide to engage yourself in, because I know that if at the time I knew what the consequences were to get involved with those websites I would not have. Those pictures and links that identify with me will more or less be with me forever, even after I deleted my accounts, I would have to go through extensive steps to go through with it. This was important to me, because people that don’t know you have nothing to go off of but what can be found, and you want that to be as pristine as possible. Professionalism is motivate when doing this. 


-[Creative Web Pages for Advertising Majors]-

Step 1: Come up with keywords that you believe would be used to reach your personal blog

I decided to use, “Blog post, Creative, Advertising Major, Mass Media, and Education”

Step 2: Use the terms you chose, and insert them into Google Ads Keyword Tool to get 5 additional terms or words that have the highest global number of searches in that category, and list them. 

My 5 keywords:

Step 4: Write a sentence for each alternate keyword that Google suggested that you could incorporate in your personal blog
  1. This is a creative based blog that allows for various mediums, channels, and vehicles that can expand your knowledge on several subjects. 
  2. A Major Advertising drives blog that demonstrates my knowledge on several subjects regarding the necessary skills to succeed. 
  3. To expand on my Degree in Advertising I created a blog to illustrate the ideals of the elements of the creative and logical side of this degree. 
  4. As well as being apart of the Relations Advertising, I developed this blog to allow the growth of expanding this website to showcase my skills in this department. 
  5. An overall generalization of the College Advertising skills that are acquired one will experience when diving into a degree in Advertising. 
Step 5: Evaluation

This project opened my eyes to the logistics of google, and how articulate the analytics are of Google. The ability to know how to manipulate searches to draw in users is very helpful when trying to expand and showcase the necessary skills to succeed in this major. We take the words we use for granted when using any type of search engine, but this workshop helped me understand the real opportunities and consequences you can have from a single word. While I used Google daily, I was unaware of the reasoning for the way websites were showed. 

What I found the most surprising was that the words I thought would have high ratings were categorized as either, “low,” or “medium” which I thought was interesting. This helped me understand the importance of the power of relevance within search engines. I believe that this will forever have an impact on me, because when I start to brand myself I will have access to have the best potential to develop myself and grow in this industry.
